Rules

>> —! OOC STUFF !→

  • Hello! My name is Fool! I am 27, and I will not write with people under the age of 20. Sorry! Nothing personal. If you follow me, I will check for your age on your blog before following back. I also like to know the person I’m writing with, so I’ll most likely dm you to talk about plots. I’m nice, I promise!

>> —! POTENTIAL ADULT CONTENT !→

  • As I am an adult, there is a possibility of NSFW content on my blog - it’s just part of life. Not a lot bothers me, but I will mark potentially triggering content as “tw” or “trigger warning” out of respect for my followers.

>> —! FOLLOWING BACK !→

  • I am mutuals only, so I won’t interact with you if you aren’t following me (mostly out of fear of bugging you). I’m super open to trying almost anything though, so shoot me a message or an ask or whatever if you’re interested in writing together! I haven’t had the occasion yet to turn someone down, however, I pretty much remain in the Star Trek universe - crossovers don’t do wonders for my motivation.

>> —! CROSSOVERS AND OCs !→

  • I am OC friendly, for sure! I am up for crossovers, but probably in the horror genre, mostly. If you think your character works with Marko, shoot me a message! I don’t mind if personals follow me or interact over ask, but most times I will only follow RP blogs back.

>> —! DRAMA !→

  • I don’t do drama. I promise I’m a super nice person, but I hate confrontation, I hate drama, and I will remove myself immediately if I’m uncomfortable. Thanks!

>> —! REPLIES !→

  • I try to reply to threads within a few days. I’m still getting used to using Tumblr for roleplaying though, and my notifications haven’t worked since installing xkit, so forgive me if I miss it. I’m pretty vigilant about checking, but please tag me in responses! I write in third person, past tense.

>> —! TAGS !→

  • I try to tag each response with the character I’m playing, your username, and your character’s first name. If you are a multimuse, I will tag your username with your name in parenthesis like so: @stringshavebeencut (data). I will tag all asks as ‘ask meme’ or ‘ask marko’ and all IC responses ‘marko speaks’. All ooc content will be tagged ‘ooc’.

>> —! IMPORTANT NOTE !→

  • Ciar is visually impaired. I am not. I have done research on Ciar's condition in order to portray him as accurately as possible, but I do not understand life as a visually impaired person because I have not experienced it. I will continue to educate myself in this area.

>> —! SHIPPING !→

  • I don’t autoship, but if you feel like our characters have chemistry, I’m up for a conversation. Ciar is bisexual, although in some verses he is questioning.

>> —! HISTORY !→

Ciar Pierce was born to Jack and Lillian Pierce in Liverpool, England, UK. They were a typical family - Ciar was an only child. Dad worked for an investment firm and Mum was a school librarian. Early life was, of course, simple and straightforward. Ciar was gifted with a sense of charm and social grace from the start. A gently rambunctious child, he had no problem saying all the right words at the right times. He was sharp, polite, and insufferably proud every time an adult commented on how mature he was. He was rarely seen without a telling smirk on his face.

At the age of eight, his entire world was turned around. Ciar began having difficulty with his eyesight. Teachers commented that he seemed less aware of his surroundings. His social life suffered. He became belligerent, reluctant to engage with his classmates. He was diagnosed with glaucoma and lost his vision completely by the age of nine. Putting a name to the affliction and finding resources to help him assist in easing his transition, but he drew into himself. The precocious child he had been transformed into someone quiet, measured, mind working a million miles a minute but much more careful about what was said aloud.

When he was eleven, his mother fell ill and passed within a few months. Plagued by the loss of his wife, Jack pierce struggled as a single father, often leaning on family to support him. After a long battle with depression, he eventually moved the two of them to New York to live with his brother. Ciar considers this the last decision he made as a father, as Jack seemed to check out shortly after they arrived.

Ciar relied heavily on his empathetic nature. He still knew how to charm his way out of anything, and people thought nothing of a blind man taking most of his time to observe those around him. He is friendly to a fault and seemingly open and gracious.

Ciar's history varies depending on the verse. Please see the verse info for full details.

VERSES

Six-of-ten is what they called him. A drone with a designation interchangeable with any other. He was born to Betazoid parents on a Federation research colony that was attacked by the Borg when Ciar was eight, just as he was beginning to lost his eyesight. He had been assimilated with enough life in him that when they broke him away from the collective he remembered much of his history. He had been fitted with implants that made it possible to install a cybernetic implant after his recovery, giving him very limited visuals in one eye. Ciar was determined to give something back to the organization that gave him back his humanity and set out to join Starfleet.

The United Kingdom never took kindly to mutants. Not really. Ciar knew he would risk his life if he mentioned his powers to anyone other than his best friend. When Ciar's mother passed, his father suffered a horrible depression. Ciar whispered to him through the walls each night, convinced that if he prayed hard enough, his father would recover. In the end, he did. Ciar's 'prayers' had had more influence than he'd imagined. It was around this time - the age of twelve - when Ciar began hearing the whispers of all those around him, even if they weren't spoken out loud.

He had seen the man on the television - Charles Xavier. They called him Professor X, and he had a whole school for people just like him. Without a word, Ciar spent months trying to convince his father to move them to America to stay with cousins, but his life in New York was far too different from Liverpool. He hated public school, and he had no way to get to the school for gifted children. He eventually confessed his 'mutant affliction' to his father who disowned him on the spot. He eventually made his way to the school on his own and has been there ever since.

Cleric is a rather formal title, don't you think? They worship the god Mystra. It's less of a traditional rectory, it was a lot of people creating new types of magic, storytelling, playing music, and doing charity work. As far as a gathering of priests, it was fairly relaxed without a lot of direction. He's a modest magic user, and not much of an adventurer, unless, of course, it involves helping a friend...

resistance is futile

Ciar always had a good relationship with his parents. He was his mother's son, through and through. She was a librarian that worked at the school close to their house. Ciar spent his days rooting through books in the bibliography section reading about the heroes of the Federation. His father was a strong, quiet man. He believed in the traditional Betazoid ways of life - using your voice was for off-worlders. At home, they used their minds.

Ciar was supposed to grow up to command a starship. He was supposed to cement the position of Betazoids in Starfleet. As strong as his father felt about it, Ciar thought he felt the same. He loved the history and the apparent grandeur, but instead of emulating Captain Kirk as his father had hoped, Ciar was fascinated with Mr. Spock.

When he was seven, his mother passed away. the illness took her faster than they could help. Ciar, too young to understand, fell back into his love of the library. He was fascinated by the brain and how it worked. With thoughts. With grief. His father took it hardest. where he had been a tough man before, he became a hard, spiteful man after her death.

At the age of six, his eyesight began to fade. A genetic condition that ran in the family on his mother's side. Dad didn't believe him right away. It was probably an excuse to get out of school work. A way of coping with loss. By the time he was seven, it was mostly gone. Before they could get him to a doctor, the Borg attacked.

The colony had very few defenses. they stood no chance against a Borg attack. The last thing that he recalls is hiding under a desk at school while chaos erupted around them. He doesn't recall ever seeing the Borg at all. There was sudden, widespread panic and an overwhelming sense of fear and confusion.

Ciar was too young to be a drone. He was placed in a maturation chamber until he reached the appropriate age to become part of the collective and was given the designation six-of-ten.

By the time his unit suffered submatrix collapse, Ciar was nineteen. Suddenly, he was an adult with no skills, no family, and no eyesight. Aside from the limited vision from his ocular implant, it had entirely deteriorated. He was enrolled in a Federation recovery program and began his journey to re-integrating into society. They found that he was able to transition rather well compared to many of the other ex-drones in the program.

His Betazoid skills had been largely dampened when he was assimilated, but they began to return as soon as he was entirely disconnected from the Collective. This made his time learning to manage and experience emotions easier to initiate but overwhelming to deal with. To experience no emotions at all and then to suddenly experience all of them and all of the people around him was intolerable at times.

Ciar's nature made it difficult for him to be anything other than driven and determined to press on. He still had dreams of joining Starfleet. Still dreams of traveling the galaxy, except now he was traveling around a galaxy that had no place for him. Not only was Starfleet a possibility, but it might also have been one of the only options for him.

It took longer than it would for most. The XB program lasted five years, plus another four for Starfleet Academy. He was twenty-eight by the time he was assigned to his first post.
